Why the Timberwolves should want Gerald Green:
Limited minutes last year really held Green back from being a reliable back up in Boston last year, something that didn't matter with the deep team the celtics possess, but Minnesota are a different story.
Green's Three Point shot throughout his career is an interesting case study, he has shot over 38% from three in four different seasons, yet shot under 35% in four also, with his career average of 36.1% still serviceable enough to provide the shooting the Wolves need and another effective scoring punch off the bench.
Per 36 Minute statistics can be misleading at times, but Green boasts a Per Game average of over 17 Points and 5 Rebounds, anchoring the fact that Green still has years left in him and can well outplay his 11.4 Minutes Per Game that he received last season.
Why the Timberwolves don't want Gerald Green:
Inconsistency. It's been a trademark of Gerald Green's game for his entire career. The man who played 29 games for the Timberwolves in the 2007/08 season has had a habit of being wildly up and down.
He averaged 10.4 Points Per Game for Boston in his Sophomore year, stroking it well (36.8%) from deep, the next season though he averaged under 6 points a game and never got it going again until a trip to Russia to play helped him get back in to the league.
Green has also never been a reliable defender, something the Timberwolves still need badly. Green registered a -2.8 Defensive Box Plus/Minus score this season, and has yet to post a positive rating in his career.
